Terrible FPS Problem
Now I just got Guild Wars Factions recently, and the first day it ran extremely smooth on max settings. However, in the past two days, my FPS has been dramatically pathetic to put it flatly. I'm averaging anywhere from 4-15 FPS when before I was getting a steady 50-60. I have TWO gigs or RAM and I am running on a NVidia GeForce 6800. Any help with this problem would be more than appreciated.
I would also like to add that I defragment atleast once a day, and I do virus scans once a week. I just did a scan today to see if something got into my computer, but nothing was found.

I would suggest turning your graphics down as what is said in the second link in this thread.

I have had a very similar problem, best thing to do is contact GW support team, they will ask you to run a few tests on your PC and hopefully spot the problem.

Yea, I'm talking to the suport team now. I have a feeling he really doesn't know how to solve my problem though...
And to the first replier, turning down the setting ALL the way did not make a difference.

Is the V-sync option on? Also try uncheck the option above it as well.
Turn off the antialiasing also. What about the graphic card driver, is it upto date?
Um,..you did say GW work fine on the 1st day, sound like something is taking up all the system and cpu resouce, do you have anything running in the background?

My graphics card drivers are fully up to date, and nothing besides my virus protection (McAffe) is running in the background.

Some people have reported really bad slowdowns that seem related to DirectSound. Try turning the quality down in the options panel, trying switching the mode (hardware or software) that you're in now, and if all else fails, try turning off sound altogether with -nosound.
Because of the degradation you've mentioned, it could also be an overheating issue. You might look into a temperature monitoring utility to see if either your GPU or CPU clock speed is being dynamically reduced due to overheating (it's a safety measure that's built in).

I've been through all the dxdiag twice with a GW tech guy, and it turned up nothing. My drivers are up to date and everything else is fine. But I'll send you a PM with it anyway.
